Performs functions prior to, during and following electrophysiology procedures. RESPONSIBILITIES Facilitates all aspects of set up and development including responsibility and functionality of all electrophysiology (EP) lab equipment and troubleshooting equipment technical problems. Facilitates and provides Tilt Table Testing. Assists physician in instrumentation, pacing and recording activities during EP procedures and facilitates proper recording and storage of data. Performs device interrogation of inpatients and post-operative device interrogation. Functions as coordinator and patient liaison between physicians and outpatient clinical care, including direct involvement in patient relations. Schedules outpatient visits and inpatient procedures including coordinating necessary clinical objectives prior to procedure. Serves as primary personnel for all procedures within the EP & Cath Lab departments. Provide direct supervision and support to the EP Lab associates. Responds to staffing needs to ensure continuous coverage and facilitate uninterrupted workflow. Coordinate reviews/analysis and documents health information data on adverse events, unexpected outcomes, professional staff peer review and system issues. Perform/oversees EP network operations, including but not limited to, process and performance improvement activities. Serves as a role-model for the EP & Cath Lab departments to educate/mentor and implement information system requirements. Ensure department integration of supply chain initiatives and inventory par levels are adequate. Implements services according to the needs of the patient, physician orders or approved clinical pathway. In collaboration with registered nurse, evaluates and adjusts care to meet patient needs and goals. Build and maintain strong, supportive and functional working relationships with all associates and physicians. Provides guidance and direction within the department at the discretion of the Cath Lab Manager. In accordance with policies, serves as a physician and guest liaison to sustain and promote operations. Implements and oversees EP Lab competencies and annual requirements. Act as an effective agent of change, including the identification of opportunities to improve the resolution of problems and the evaluation of the effectiveness of change. Qualifications: Certification Required: Must have current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification and Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) within six (6) months of employment. Must hold or obtain a certification within one (1) year of eligibility from either of these two entities: International Board of Heart Rhythm Examiners (IBHRE) for either: Cardiac Electrophysiology Specialist (CEPS), Certified Cardiac Device Specialist (CCDS), or Cardiovascular Credentialing International (CCI) for: Registered Cardiovascular Electrophysiology Specialist (RCES) or Registered Cardiovascular Invasive Specialist (RCIS). EDUCATION Required: High School Diploma or General Education Diploma (G.E.D.). Graduate of a school with continuing education in specialty area. Preferred: Bachelor Degree in area of specialty.
